MARCOBOLOGNA is the result of an encounter: on one hand the creative and visionary spirit of Marco Giugliano and on the other the refined and balanced vision of Nicolò Bologna.
Having graduated, respectively, from Istituto Marangoni and Istituto Europeo di Design and after initial experience with prestige brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Strenesse, the two young Italian designers decided in 2011 to strike out on their own and independently create their first collection of jewels.
In September 2011, they were selected by Franca Sozzani and Anna Wintour to show their second collection (SS12) at the "Vogue Talents" event in Palazzo Morando in Milan, and for this occasion they created a capsule collection of Tshirts. At this point they launched the project they had been looking forward to, that of creating a women’s prêt-à-porter collection.
The FW 12/13 collection was produced in partnership with Grazia Bagnaresi, a Faenza company with 30 years experience in clothing manufacture. Distribution was organized in collaboration with "Studiozeta", the Milan showroom that gave them access to a vast public.
After winning the 2012 “Who’s on next” with their SS13 collection they enjoyed massive consensus on the part of the press and buyers. In January 2013, Altaroma invited them to show their FW 13/14 collection at the "Made in Wion" event and in September they appeared for the first time on the calendar of the Milano Moda Donna week, with their SS14 collection.
